~ Words ~

a path through the woods
Since the Beloved is involved in everything, it has to be this way: the skinned knee is better off for having ached.

And a face that has known a tear's movement, it may not show right away any signs of change, but a magnificent inner canyon is being formed from the currents of sacred elements touching- shaping us.

When will tenderness reign? When will love govern? There is a court you rule that affects any you near, so you tell me.

Something became apparent a while back: Listening to others deeply is vital to human development.

The heart cannot deny the law of action and reaction. It will give in proportion to what it has cherished.

~ The Cabin ~

a few weeks ago, before wiring, drywall, and insulation
stairs, wiring, insulation and drywall going in. the hot
water heater will be under the stairs, as well as the
plumbing/ducting for a stacking washer dryer that will be accessible
from the kitchen.
Gibson in the kitchen. there are two built in areas on the right side,
backing up to the stairs and living room, where we will have a
stacking w/d and the fridge. a sliding barn door will keep that wall
from looking cluttered.the kitchen is going to be full
blown rustic cabin style, with open shelves and hand built
work tables in place of stock cabinets.
the boys' bunk area, when there will be built in beds along the
wall.  each bed has it's own light for reading and lighting up
the loft when the sun goes down. the builder uses formaldehyde-free
insulation and is meticulous in detail.
We close next month, so things will move really fast now. Septic and plumbing going in this week, drywall is almost finished and ready for painting. Craig and I went down and painted the kitchen and living room drywall on Saturday. It is really looking great. I forgot my camera, so pictures will come next week. We couldn't be happier with the way it is coming together. It's so nice to have builders who enjoy their work and it really shows in the quality.
a sweet little bass that i caught and released at the
spring fed lake in the hardwood preserve. i'll be
spending a lot of time here.

Happy Tuesday, sweet friends!

The detail in this tile work just takes my breath away. Craftsmanship from a bygone era, indeed.

~ Inspiration ~

pure heaven
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see  if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, realize that I had not lived.  ~Thoreau

It's been a long week in the studio. Seven days of creating for 10+ hours a day has me completely drained but feeling very satisfied with all of the beautiful pieces that I was privileged to create for kindred spirits around world. A day in the woods is just what my soul needs, so I'm headed to check on the cabin progress with my favorite guys.

Enjoy your weekend, sweet friends!

~ The Cabin ~

board and batten above the logs
I love the look of board and batten and was so happy that we could add it to the cabin above the logs. The builders picked out this stain color and I think it's beautiful with the dark stain on the logs and the tin colored metal roof. It reminds me of patinaed copper.
adding the board and batten siding
The outside of the cabin is really coming together. The east side is getting it's board and batten siding, so the windows and doors should all be in this week. Until the scaffolding is down, the downstairs windows can't go in. No one wants to see a hammer go through a brand new window! This is what this side of the cabin looked like about a month ago.
logs and framing on the east side of the cabin

I cannot wait to watch the sun rise through this wall of windows.
Happy Monday, sweet friends!

Those toes. I love this boy.
Braden caught and released a nice bass
Pure heaven at the lake last night
Ethan was not quite sure that he wanted to touch the fish...
He touched it.  :)
Gibson was lost in the moment
Daddy showing Gib how to tease the fish with his lure.
I love the intensity of their concentration.
We went to check out the progress at the cabin yesterday afternoon. The electrical is getting roughed in for a inspection this week and then the drywall and insulation can start going in. I needed a little walk in the woods and some time at the lake before heading home. It was gorgeous and just what my soul needed for a recharge.

Happy Sunday, sweet friends~
